Description:
The Tax Collector is a constitutional officer of the county elected by the residents. The responsibilities of the Tax Collector include:
1) Real Estate/Personal Property Tax - Taking the millages levied by each taxing authority and the property value assessed by the Property Appraiser and billing all property owners. This would include real estate tax and personal property tax.
2) Occupational Licenses - Collecting the fees for and issuing occupational licenses required by the county.
3) Tourist Taxes - Collecting the 4% tourist tax from hotels, motels and other rental units and remitting it to the county.
4) Fishing and Hunting Licenses - Issuing fishing and hunting licenses and collecting appropriate fees on behalf of the State Game and Wildlife Commission.
5) Department of Motor Vehicles - Operate local DMV office for issuing license plates, driver license services, and titles for cars and vessels and remitting the fees to the State.
6) Distribution of Tax Collections - Distributing collected taxes and fees back to the appropriate taxing authorities.
7) Sell Tax Certificates - To conduct an annual sale to sell tax certificates on delinquent taxes to assure revenues to the taxing authorities at budgeted levels.
8) Bankruptcies - To represent the interests of taxpayers and taxing authorities in bankruptcy proceedings to assure proper collection of taxes.

Description
Florida Law requires all motorized vessels be titled and registered. To title and Register a Boat in applicant's name bring the following items: New boats: A Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (MCO) form must be completed by the selling dealer and bill of sale or dealer invoice listing the purchase price, sales tax paid and trade-in allowance. Note: additional sales tax may be due. Used boats: The title must be properly completed for transfer by the seller. Note: Every person applying for ownership on a new or used vessel must sign the title or the application for certificate of title, or they must be present in office to sign the application and provide personal identification.

Description
All businesses operating within city limits, by law, must obtain City and County Business Tax Receipts in order to operate legally. Must obtain both Receipts or will be considered in violation of the Local Business Tax Receipt Ordinance. If business is located in the unincorporated area of the County, a city Business Tax Receipt is not required, however, will need a zoning compliance approval and any additional state required licenses as necessary. A new business checklist and new business flowchart is also available for assistance. If working from home, must still meet applicable state and local requirements before obtaining a county business tax receipt. Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations are exempt from Business Tax Receipts.

HANDICAPPED PARKING - LONG AND SHORT TERM Disabled persons must have either a current Florida driver license or a Florida identification (ID) card. LONG-TERM DISABLED PERSON HANDICAP PLACARDS A long-term disabled person parking placard is available to any individual with permanent mobility problems or those who are legally blind. The disability must be certified by: A Florida or out-of-state physician, osteopathic physician, podiatrist, chiropractor or optometrist, the Florida Division of Blind Services, the Adjudication Office of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the U.S. Veterans Administration, or the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs. Long-term permits are issued for a period of four years and expire on the disabled person's birthday. Individuals seeking the long-term parking placard must submit a completed application (a 83039 dated June 1998 or later). There is no fee. Applications may be obtained at the tax collectorÃâs office or online at www.tcslc.com. TEMPORARY DISABLED PERSON PARKING PLACARDS Temporary disabled person parking placards are available to any individual with a temporary disability. This has to be certified by a Florida or out-of-state physician, osteopathic physician, chiropractor, optometrist, the Florida Division of Blind Services, or the Adjudication Office of the U.S. Veterans Administration. Individuals seeking the temporary parking placard must submit a completed application (a 83039 dated June 1998 or later), along with a $15 fee. The permit may be valid as determined by your physician not to exceed six months. Applications may be obtained at the tax collectorÃâs office or online at www.tcslc.com.

Description
Residents operating vehicles on Florida's roadways must register their vehicles in the state of Florida. Vehicle registrations may be obtained at the tax collectors office. In order to receive a vehicle registration, must have the following items: A registration renewal notice or previously issued registration.
