Veteran Service Officer

Description

Interviews and assists military veterans who have served in any branch of the Armed Forces of the United States in obtaining benefits for which they may be eligible. Assists veteran’s dependents and survivors to obtain benefits. Prepares and submits claims for securing compensation, pension, health benefits, education, loans, vocational training and other benefits or privileges to which eligible veterans are or may become entitled. These claims shall be prepared under various federal law, state law or regulation by reason of the veteran’s service in the Armed Forces of the United States. Must be able to complete applicable and required forms. Prepares and completes statistical reports. Prepares detailed claim forms and legal briefs (VA Form 646’s). Assembles information to establish the validity of the claim under pertinent rules and regulations. Reviews claim information, briefs, pertinent records and evidence and prepare appeals as needed. Contacts doctors for supportive medical information, contacts various agencies for documents or information pertinent to claims. Be able to advise veterans or disabled veterans of employment opportunity resources. Must act as a liaison with area agencies on the client’s behalf.

Monday-Friday / 9 am-5 pm
