Provides veterans and first responders an opportunity to learn the language, trust, and patience of a horse through Equine Assisted Learning (EAL). EAL assists the individual to be in the present, shedding extraneous thoughts that distract from a calm existence.

Description
The EAL sessions arefor groups of 5-8 veterans or first responders. Each session will last one hour and thirty minutes, beginning with horse bonding and exercises and finishing with a fifteen-minute debriefing. Each group goes through an eight-week program with the goal of further developing trust and patience between human and horse.
Hours
EAL Sessions are Monday and Thursday / 10 am-11:30 am and 1 pm-2:30 pm
Required Documents
Referral letter or accompanied by professional from VA.
Eligibility
Veteran, Police Officer, EMT, or Firefighter referred by a mental health professional.
Fees
No fees.
Intake Procedure
Individuals are accepted based on an assessment made by a mental health specialist. Currently receive clients through the VA hospital in West Palm Beach.
