Description
Provides support, education and encouragement to caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and/or other related dementia's. Caregiver support groups meet throughout the area at varied times, days and locations. Caregiver support groups are free. Description
Caregiver Education- A caregiver is any person involved in the care of a dementia patient. Training is provided for family caregivers and professional caregivers. Topics include: communication, safety, and behavior management. Health care providers are encouraged to receive this training. Support Group Leader - Caregivers dealing with dementia patients need specialized support. Training is provided as needed for new support group leaders and quarterly to update training for current support group leaders. Information on topics of interest to caregivers is provided to all support group leaders on an ongoing basis.

Description
Provide a variety of educational offerings for staff of assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities, daycare centers, home health agencies, and other programs working with Alzheimer's Disease and other memory disorders. Community Training - Any group or community organization may contact the Chapter to request a speaker. The Chapter has a commitment to educate the community regarding Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias and to increase community awareness. Police Training - A specialized program geared toward law enforcement agencies to assist officers in recognizing a dementia patient and the appropriate approach and intervention strategies.

Helpline callers receive telephone Care Consultation from a master's level clinician who is trained to provide Alzheimer's disease and related dementia information, resources, supportive counseling and crisis intervention to callers in Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Broward, Okeechobee, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. Educational meetings for individuals with early stage Alzheimers or related dementia's and their care partners.
