CCIRH Caridiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Description
Cardiac Rehabilitation is a medically-supervised program offering exercise therapy and coronary risk modifications through patient education. Activities are directed by registered nurses who are experienced in coronary care and cardiac rehabilitation. All participants must be referred by a physician. The EKG-monitored cardiac conditioning program usually begins a few weeks following hospital discharge. A low-level training program is initiated that gradually advances by intensity and duration. The classes meet three times a week for 12 one-hour sessions for a total of 36 sessions. Each exercise session is monitored with telemetry and supervised by the registered nurse. Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a monitored exercise program that helps alleviate shortness or breath and improve endurance for patients with lung disease. Teaches how to deal with stress, conserve energy, decrease anxiety and depression and make daily routines easier.
