Description
Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control has a very active pet adoption program, with a goal of placing as many healthy adoptable pets into loving homes as possible. Pets available for adoption vary from dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, pocket pets (rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs), birds and livestock (horses, pigs, goats, chickens, etc.). All pets adopted from the program, with exception of some pocket pets and livestock, are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, treated for fleas and ticks, receive a medical exam, and are microchipped.

Adopters will need to provide a photo ID, proof of address and any pets at home will need to be current on their rabies vaccination and county license tag.

Description
Provides licensing for dogs and cats, 4 months of age or older, which have been vaccinated for rabies. Rabies vaccinations and purchase of license tag are offered through the client's veterinarian or at Animal Care and Control. This program also is responsible for checking tags of lost animals or of animals which have bitten someone.

Description
All stray dogs are held for a minimum of four days to provide ample time for the pet owner to redeem the pet from the shelter, after which time the pet may be available for adoption. There is no hold time for stray cats who are impounded without any form of identification (collar and tag, or microchip); healthy stray cats may be evaluated for the pet adoption program or they will be surgically sterilized, microchipped, vaccinated and then returned to the community in which they were found. Adopted animals are given a physical examination, wormed, vaccinated for various diseases and surgically sterilized.
