This 13.5 acre botanical garden enhances the educational endeavors of the environmental horticulture program. Educational tours are offered. Plantings expose the public to the large variety of tropical and subtropical plants that grow in South Florida and exhibits point to their proper use. Tropical fruits and citrus are featured along with a xeriscape area, lake and water catchment areas, herb garden, native plant area, poisonous plants, bromeliads, ferns, vegetables, and other plantings to further education in environmental horticulture.

The year-round growing season provides opportunities for area growers to produce a wide variety of products. This diversity creates opportunities to keep area growers informed of a wide variety of educational programs and to encourage implementation of the latest research. The agency addresses these educational needs by devising programs that make farmers and growers more efficient, resulting in ultimate savings for the consumer. A federally-mandated pesticide training/testing program is conducted.
