The Institute is dedicated to changing the course of children!s lives by partnering with parents to equip and prepare them with the knowledge and support they need to provide a healthy and safe environment for their children to develop and grow. Programs include the TEACUP Preemie Program® (resources and support in the hospital NICU and the home for families with a premature infant); Parent Aide (in home family mentoring and parenting support), and FirstPlay® (storytelling with nurturing touch to promote infant bonding and attachment) and Youth Mentoring component to our Parent Aide program. The one to one community based youth mentoring currently accepts referrals from families enrolled in our Parent Aide but our goal is to expand this to families outside of Parent Aide.

Description
A voluntary program for family. Family-centered services focus on Child Safety, Problem-Soies with parents who feel overwhelmed and want to ensure they have the skills and tools necessary to have a healthy, happy and safe home. Families will benefit from a mentor who will visit them once a week. Problem solving, Skills Parenting Skills, and Social Support.

Eligibility
All family members in the home must take part in program as clients. Families must reside in Palm Beach County and have at least one child under the age of 12. Mentors must be 21 years old or older or in a college internship, must pass criminal background checks, and attend an initial 12- hour training.

Teacup Premie Program
Description
Home visitation/hospital visitation program that provides comprehensive support services to families dealing with a premature infant. The program works in conjunction with the NICU staff and in collaboration with the Breast Feeding Coalition of Palm Beach County. Program provides lactation education, electric pump lending, bonding and attachment, advocacy and support.

Eligibility
Parent Aide requires that the family has a child 0-17 years of age living in the home. TEACUP Preemie requires that the family has a preemie baby either in the NICU or that has already transitioned home.
