Description:
Improves the coordination and effectiveness of the health and human service delivery system in the Glades area of Palm Beach County. Increases access to health and human services by removing the barriers that both residents and providers encounter within the system of care.
Provides navigation and eligibility services for individuals needing Medicaid/Medicare, SNAP (Food stamps) health care coverage and other emergency application assistance.
Provides food thru weekly food pantry distribution. Food distribution every Tuesday 3-7 pm; Wednesday 8:30-11 am and 2-4:30 pm. Weekly grocery deliveries for eligible seniors on Thursdays. For other emergency food contact agency.
Coordinates the Glades Area Food Bank and distributes healthy food to 10 partner agencies in The Glades area.
Provides economic stability case management for low income residents seeking to increase their household income.
Provides services for vulnerable seniors enabling them to remain in their home and age in place with dignity.
Produces the Glades Area Resource Guide. A comprehensive, listing of over 175 service providers in the Glades.
Provides the Glades Community Updates. A weekly email newsletter with valuable information about Glades program services, resources and events - subscribe at www.gladesinitiative.org
Provides trainings to strengthen the community.
- Cooking Matters Nutrition Education Program teaches residents how to shop for and cook healthy meals on a low budget.
- Medical Interpreter Training teaches providers how to deliver quality interpreter services to clients through a 40-hour training session.
- Financial Literacy training teaches residents fundamental banking concepts and to avoid predatory financial practices.
Provides Background Screening. Level II (FBI) background screening services to organizations and residents with this requirement.
