United Way of Indian River County is an independent, community-based, non-profit organization designed to address health and human service needs in Indian River County. Locally governed and managed, United Way of Indian River County consists of nine full time staff and is run by an all volunteer Board of Directors. We are one of about 1,100 locally run United Way affiliates in the country. Last year over 1,700 volunteers from the community helped further United Way's activities and goals.
United Way of Indian River County's mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities. Our vision is to bring together our local community by building partnerships, forging consensus and leveraging resources to focus on the building blocks for a better life: Education, Income, Health.
With the exception of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), United Way does not provide direct services to individuals in the community. Rather, United Way provides resources; human, financial and otherwise to its partnering agencies and organizations in Indian River County that are focused on addressing important human needs.
