Description:
The Supervisor of Elections is a constitutional officer elected to serve a four-year term. He/she runs all governmental elections in the County. This office is also responsible for registering eligible County residents as voters, and generally for maintaining the registration rolls.
VOTER REGISTRATION - To register to vote, a person must be a U.S. citizen, 16 to pre-register,18 to register to vote on or before election day, and a legal resident of Palm Beach County. A person may pre-register during his/her 16th year. If the applicant has been convicted of a felony, his/her civil rights must be restored. If the applicant has been declared mentally incompetent, competency must be restored. Proof of residency is not required to register to vote. Registration is permanent as long as you remain a legal resident of Palm Beach County and do not lose your right to vote due to the commission of a felony or adjudication of mental in competency.
The registration books close 29 days prior to each election. The voter registration application must be either received at a designated voter registration agency by the book closing date or postmarked by the Book closing date. However, if you are registered to vote in Palm Beach County and have moved, you may change your legal residence address within Palm Beach County at any time up to and including election day. You must vote in the precinct in which you live.
A Florida voter registration application is available for download from website www.votepalmbeach.gov or by mail by calling the Supervisor of Elections Office. Voter registration applications are also available at most city halls, banks, savings and loans, public assistance agencies, county and municipal libraries, driver's license offices, and at all Supervisor of Elections Offices.
Address changes within Palm Beach County may be made by filling out the back of the voter identification card and returning it to the Supervisor of Elections Office. If you do not have your card, you may write to the Supervisor of Elections and request the change(s) needed. If you move from the precinct in which you are registered, you will not be permitted to vote in that precinct; you must be registered in the precinct in which you live. All name changes, party changes and address changes from one County in Florida to another must be submitted on a Florida Voter Administration application with an original signature.
