Description:
Provides child abuse prevention, health, housing, and behavioral health services for families whose life circumstances impact child and family health and stability. Many of the families served by Families First struggle with domestic violence, homelessness, drug or alcohol abuse, mental or physical health issues or just a change in circumstance that has left them unable to cope. With six programs, Families First helps them build on their strengths and designs individualized plans that meet each family's specific needs.

Description
Provides individual and family therapeutic services. Services are provided in home or office based on family needs.
Hours
Monday-Friday / 8 am - 5 pm, nights and weekends as needed.

Children primarily 6 to 22 at risk of developing a mental health disorder and their families.

No fees charged. Accepts Medicaid.
Intake Procedure
Assessed by Boys town of South Florida to begin care coordination services and then refer to Families First for therapeutic services if indicated. Therapists co-located in six schools. 0 to 5 based services.

Kinship Program
Description
Kinship program provides kinship comprehensive case management services for relatives and the children in their care. Services include: education, counseling, support, advocacy, linkage to community resources, linkage to legal services through The Legal Aid society of PBC, health care benefits information and support groups.

Provides outreach to pregnant women who are at risk of HIV, HIV+, and/or substance abusing. Helps pregnant women obtain medical insurance and prenatal care. Also provides HIV testing, pregnancy testing, and HIV/STD education to women of child-bearing age. Case management services furnished to HIV+ pregnant women.

TOPWA sends an outreach worker out to pregnant women who need services. Outreach workers provide assessments to eligible women and their families. They are referred for appropriate medical and psycho-social services.

Intake Procedure
Must make contact with Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies or Home Safe by calling (888) 414-4642. The Mother meets with worker and it is determined that the Mother fits eligibility for Healthy Families, then an assessment worker will contact the Mother. Worker will schedule a time to meet with the Mother and complete an assessment. Mother must score a 13 or higher and be open to services, then the case will be accepted and work will begin with the Mother and family.
