Description:
Provides a broad range of mental and drug abuse services in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, St. Lucie counties. Agency services are available to all residents and visitors in its service area. The principal criterion for receiving a service is need. Services are provided to individuals who voluntarily request them, and the agency also operates in accordance with Florida's alcohol, drug abuse, and mental health laws to provide evaluation and treatment on an involuntary basis. Client fees are assessed on a sliding scale based on income and family size. Accepted methods of payment include most insurance, Medicaid and Medicare.

Psychiatric Medical Services
Description
Outpatient Counseling Services provide services for men and women for crisis interventions, diagnostic evaluation, medication medication, and other treatment recommendations. Discharge from Inpatient unit ideally results in seamless transition into community with referral for follow-up care. Comprehensive bio psychosocial evaluations are conducted. Based upon the evaluation and diagnosis, the appropriate treatment will be provided for individuals, couples and families. These services are rendered by physicians, nurse practitioners and licensed mental health providers. The Outpatient Centers are conveniently located throughout our four county service area. Hours are Monday through Friday 8AM to 6PM. Evening hours vary at each center. Adult Case Management Services
Description
Provides coordination of services to adults with a mental illness and who may also have a co-occurring substance abuse disorder. A wide range of therapeutic interventions are provided to individuals who need multiple services and supports, and who lack a natural support system to assist them in their recovery. Services may include: assistance with securing and maintaining housing, referrals to internal and external services, education to family and significant others to facilitate a better understanding of mental illness and or co-occurring disorders.

Injection Clinic
Description
Serves clients who due to non-compliance with oral medications, recieve long acting injectable medications. The clinic provides a properly trained nurse, who administers the injectable in a safe, clean environment.

Eligibility
Anyone who is prescribed an LAI by New Horizons provider is eligible for the Injection Clinic regardless of insurance.

Mobile Crisis Response Team
Description
Provides mobile crisis intervention. Will go to client only when escorted by law enforcement. Services also include follow-up as needed to promote crisis resolution, evaluation and arrangement for inpatient hospitalization if necessary. Mobile Crisis services are provided by trained mental health professionals in an effort to provide safe alternatives to involuntary admissions to treatment facilities.

Services for people who are experiencing crisis as determined by a law enforcement official, emergency room staff or school officials. The Mobile Crisis Team does not respond to direct referrals.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation
Description
Provides a recovery-oriented service to assist individuals with learning, re-learning or improving skills necessary for independent living and employment. Services focus on management of barriers created by disabilities and a variety of life domain issues are addressed, including medication management, pre-employment, social network enhancement, health maintenance skills, and use of community resources.

In Jail Mental Health & Substance Abuse Intervention Programs
Description
Mental Health Contracts with Indian River county to provide direct intervention to meet the needs of emotionally disturbed adults held in correctional facilities. Referrals are made by correctional agencies. The direct services consist of psychiatric evaluations, psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, prescription of and monitoring of medications, counseling with individuals and medication management. Substance Abuse Contracts with Indian River and Martin Counties to provide Substance Abuse Intervention Programs for inmates. The programs consist of structured services targeted toward individuals or groups at risk. Programs focus on reducing those factors associated with the onset or the early stages of substance abuse and related problems. Substance abuse intervention programs, aftercare, and counseling are available in the contracted jail sites.
Eligibility
Substance abuse intervention services available to Indian River, Martin County inmates only; mental health available to Indian River inmates only.

No charge for evaluation for the individual, charges to insurance companies under contract.
