Description

Provides outreach to the Tamarind Avenue / Pleasant City community that offers, among other services: An after school program called The Leadership Academy that aims to provide a safe haven for students in an after school evironment, addresses the educational and social needs of the children, assists in the communication between parent, school, and child. Also provides camps, a Year-long work program and parenting classes. These services are offered to students of the following schools: Roosevelt Elementary School; U.B. Kinsey / Palmview Elementary School; Westward Elementary School; Roosevelt Middle School; and various local high schools. Enrollment in The Leadership Academy is by application only. Applications are available in May of each year. The program operates with a waiting list every year. Application is also required for Re Frame Work Program and Summer Jam. Preference is given to students who attend The Leadership Academy. Those applications are also available in May of each year. These programs also have waiting lists every year. The Family Empowerment Program offers parenting classes; annual parent retreats and family picnics; Bible studies for women and men; benevolence support, and ongoing family support. Eligibility

Urban Youth Impact admits students from the Tamarind Avenue / Pleasant City community that are in grades K-12 into its After School Program.

Intake Procedure

Each student must complete a registration form and submit a copy of his or her most recent report card prior to entering the program along with proof of financial need.
