Natural or manmade disasters can strike quickly and without warning. Across our region we respond every 27 hours to an emergency from house fires, to wildfires, tornadoes and hurricanes. Day or night, Red Cross volunteers respond to the scene. The Community Disaster Education Program allows them to go out in to the community and teaches disaster and safety education. Whether it is talking about Hurricane Preparedness, Fire Safety, or Overall Disaster Awareness, we equip people to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Volunteers serve as disaster responders, shelter workers, work at festivals and on canteen operations, and represent Red Cross at various functions throughout the county.
