Description:
Provides services to homeless people by a variety of Palm Beach County Social Service Agencies and interim housing who are awaiting placement into permanent housing.
Hours:
Every day / 24 hours
Incoming callers between the hours of 8 am-5 pm will be triaged to determine if they need prevention services or are truly homeless. Those callers who indicate they are homeless, will be forwarded to the Lewis Center Navigation team and assessed by a navigator to determine eligibility of services. Calls coming in after 5 pm and or on weekends, will be answered and the caller will be asked for their name and contact information and the reason for their call. A navigator will then return their call the next business day to assess and determine eligibility of services.
This is for individuals seeking services only. If a family calls after 5 pm and or on weekends seeking services, the call is answered by staff and the information is taken and placed on a call log for staff from Adopt a Family to return the call.
Is Shelter?
Yes
Shelter Requirements:
No walk-ups are permitted. If you come to the facility without having first called and completed the screening process, you will be turned away. Those seeking services must call 561-904-7900 to determine eligibility. All callers must be screened for eligibility. Must be a resident of Palm Beach County and be able to provide proof of residency for shelter placement. Must be literally homeless and be able to provide documentation of homelessness. Placement into shelter is not immediate. You will be assessed to determine eligibility of services and if eligible, you will be placed on a wait list to access services. If you have been determined to be eligible to receive services, you will be contacted when a bed is available for you.
