Investigates reports of abuse, neglect and exploitation of children up to age 18. Can provide referrals to programs/agencies that can assist a family with needed services, including financial aid, clothing, nutrition, parenting support and medical and developmental assessments. Also contracts with agencies that provide in-home prevention services for children who are at-risk of abuse or neglect. Casework is goal-oriented to ensure the protection of the child by improving the caregiving capacity of the parent or other custodian.
